Why won't Cloudflare let me in?

Why am I being blocked by Cloudflare?

We use the Cloudflare Network Inspection feature that helps prevent abuse and improve the quality of Internet content.

Since you may be using a service that is not on our whitelist, your domain may be subject to a manual inspection.

By checking for malicious activity, it helps to reduce the likelihood of phishing, fraud, malware, or other malicious activity occurring on your domain. We don't use any cookies to track visits on our website and there is no personal information collected, only a unique IP address that is not shared with any 3rd parties.

You can view a full list of domains under investigation by visiting Cloudflare.com/domains. You can see which domains were removed from our network.

If you need help using these features, please contact us by submitting a ticket through this form. Can I remove my website from Cloudflare's block list? Yes. If your site is removed from the block list, you'll receive an email at the address listed below.

I've been blocked, but I haven't done anything wrong. What should I do? As Cloudflare states in their Terms of Service: "The following are unacceptable actions that will cause your website to be added to a block list, and may result in your website being completely blocked or removed from Cloudflare's service entirely": Hacking or conducting phishing attacks. Spamming. Illegal activity (ie, pirating or counterfeiting). Spreading malware or other malicious software. Spreading hate speech or other inappropriate content. If you believe your site has been added to our block list in error, visit Cloudflare.com/domains for more information on how to handle a block.

Can I pay to remove my domain from the Cloudflare block list? Cloudflare does not offer services for removing your domain from the block list. If you believe your domain has been erroneously added to the block list, you must contact the relevant law enforcement authorities.

Cloudflare is not responsible for any loss or damage caused by a visitor's reliance on any of the information on our site.

How do I unblock a Cloudflare block?

If you are in trouble with Cloudflare on any domain and need help, we have some instructions for that: Sign up for a free account.

Enter the website you want to unblock. You have to login, but keep in mind it only takes a few minutes to unblock it afterwards.

Find the offending domains under Your IP block: If the page is not working correctly, click Error on the page. That will take you to a list of the errors that the domain had.

Why won't Cloudflare let me in?

And what if I want to use their DNS provider to do it for me?

This is something many cloudflare customers were told was a feature, and yet it's not. To use Cloudflare as my DNS server, you have to choose which domain name you want to host on their dns servers. This is your own choice.

That means if you don't have a specific domain that you control, then you are not in control of the DNS server for your domain. And you have to take a lot of guess work at what to enter into their search box. I chose to type in something I knew it wouldn't find. A random subdomain of mine.

The result is that Cloudflare returns a page with 3 boxes (see above). I click in the leftmost field and it works fine. Cloudflare allows "any domain" to use its free, "cloudflare.com" subdomain, which can do the equivalent of a Google DNS.

But you still have to make the choice of where you want to be hosting it. If you want to be hosting it yourself, then you don't have the choice of using their DNS to do the switching for you, the way they promise to make it possible. At least when their "any-domains" are hosted on their own nameservers, you can use your own name for the subdomain. But this is an opt-in decision.

I asked Cloudflare's team for details about this. They told me that they need to change something in the platform "to ensure that all domain owners in the future will have complete control over their domains and subdomains, while having the freedom to deploy multiple DNS management methods."

They want people to believe there is some way to run their own DNS on top of Cloudflare. They even provide a list of third-party tools, but they claim they do not have a solution.

Yet every day I see posts on forums like DZone telling their users it is ok to use Cloudflare's free "cloudflare.com" subdomain, which does what Google DNS does.

That's their way of getting traffic, and they are just fine. It works for them, their business model is still going strong.

Why is Cloudflare blocking me from discord?

Hi, I am currently a member of the ATS Discord.

It is a great community and I enjoy posting about my adventures. I just got this in my PM:

I am currently a member of the ATS Discord. If they block you, all they have to do is change the IP to one they own. That would make Cloudflare an unreliable hosting provider. They have no reason to block you. So it might be that they were already hosting the discord server. Or a bot?
