What does snscrape do?

Does snscrape still work for Twitter?

I know snscrape has been taken out of the Goolag library and was wondering if anyone still uses it and if so, for Twitter?

I know you can still use it with Facebook, but is there a specific reason why Twitter was not included in this tool? I haven't tried snscrape with Twitter yet, but I was wondering if anyone has? I was using it to get stats for each day I posted something (I started in 2009) for up to 1 week. It doesn't seem to work anymore with the new Twitter API. When I use it, I get "Error: Response code: 503 - Service Unavailable" and "Error: Invalid request signature. Expected string, got 'bo'."

I don't use it with FB anymore either. But I used it a lot before that. It's quite a nice little app and I would have been happy to continue using it for Twitter if it had the same functionality as the old one.

I also used it for Twitter before the new API. It worked fine, though I never used it that much.

I just used it to check a few things after the new API came out. It seems to work fine for at least some people.

The snsapp.py script still works for twitter. I believe the error message is because of the new API. It works well if you change the URL to use the new API.

I think snscrape.py was only available for Twitter until a few weeks ago.

Snscrape worked well for me until recently. The new API returned an error when I tried to scrape with it. I've tried a few different approaches, and am now getting: "Bad Request" status code.

Does anyone know what the problem is? I've gone through all the possible problems that could cause this, but I can't find anything. I'm using snscrape.py on a Mac and am running Python 2.6.4.

I think it might be some of the changes that Twitter has made to their API. I'd be interested to hear how other people are getting on.

I downloaded snscrape for my phone a couple days ago and found that it worked on my iPhone (3.3) and Android phones (4.1).

What does snscrape do?

Snscrape is a command line tool designed to capture web pages as they are served to a computer and save them for later download or offline viewing.

It works by capturing the HTTP header and content and then, if you need to, parsing that header data to find information.

Snscrape is designed for webmasters, not web browsers. If you're not sure why you need to scrape your website, see Snscraping - What is it for? for more details.

Snscrape currently supports Chrome, Safari and Firefox. How do I use snscrape? First, let's run snscrape with no arguments: If you want to scrape www.yourdomain.com, you could run:
If you want to use a port other than 80, you can also specify the port number, eg: Once you've run snscrape, the command prompt will exit and you'll be presented with the captured web page. You can save this file locally to disk (for example) or open it in a text editor to look at what was captured by snscrape. If you want to download the captured page instead, enter: snscrape -d. The -d argument tells snscrape to download the captured page. It does not change the format of the captured page; instead it is used to save the file on the local file system.

If you want to see all the HTML elements on the page, view the contents of the captured page using a text editor such as gedit or kate and just scroll down to the bottom of the file until you find the HTML element that contains the content that you want to see. Note that you may need to modify the HTML to include any style and other tags you don't want included. If you're worried about losing formatting, then when you download the page, you should either save the whole file, rather than just the HTML elements, using the -d option, or use an HTML tool like HTMLCleaner.

Is it legal to use snscrape?

SnSCRAPE is not a free app.

As per the license agreement: You acknowledge that you have not relied on SnSCRAPE's technical expertise to determine the legality of any such software or hardware in accordance with United States federal law and in compliance with all relevant laws. Myself, I don't plan on using it for anything illegal. But I guess I could use it for a project I'm doing for my own business or school purposes. Does anyone have experience with this? It is legal or not legal to use in that matter?

In its current form, you are not allowed to build tools based on SnSCRAPE, but it seems that the purpose of this license is to be an example, because, from the website, "The SnScrape software is distributed at no cost. SnScrape will remain freely available for anyone who wishes to use it." If you don't want to get sued, keep in mind that you're not supposed to sue a dead project's authors for damages.

Also, SnSCRAPE is not open source, as evidenced by these statements from the site: Copyright (c) 2014-2016 snscrape GmbH. All rights reserved. No part of this software can be used for commercial purposes or with illegal equipment. Distribution of this software is strictly limited to non-commercial educational purposes only. We do NOT offer support for our free software.

And: SnScrape is distributed under the GNU General Public License version 2.0 Which basically means that the licence is not compatible with any open source licence.
