Does Appen pay real money?

How do you qualify for Appen?

Appen is a free marketplace for apps.

For a fee, Appen members can create an app for you and sell it in their marketplace. They take a commission of 5% of each sale or 30% in the case of lifetime subscriptions.

It's a win-win for both the buyer and seller, so buyers are guaranteed to be happy. Buyers that don't like your app might choose someone else anyway, but buyers are also free to make their own decisions when they purchase their app from you. You retain all copyright rights to your app. That means you can upload and share your app for free and keep all of the profits yourself. But that's not all, as it gets even better!

Buyers have unlimited access to all the features of Appen, including: The Marketplace. The App Store on the iPhone or iPad. A detailed analytics dashboard for the sales of your apps. An Android Market in the future. You retain full ownership of your apps. And if you choose, you can choose a lifetime plan to maximize your revenue. With a lifetime subscription, Appen retains 5% of your app's income after the purchase.

What does this mean for me? It's easy to make money from your app by selling your app. The more active your app, the more sales. When customers search for your app, the greater the chance of appearing higher on the listing page. Having good visibility on the Marketplace will bring you more sales. Just make sure you get the word out and drive some traffic to your Appen listings.

Now, how can I earn money? To make money with Appen, you need to join one of their premium plans. There's a free option but the free version offers limited access to the marketplace.

If you only want to sell one or two apps you might want to go with the free version and just use one of their free templates. But for those wanting more, the paid plan is the way to go.

Is Appen a legitimate company?

Yes.

But for the most part I would not consider Appen to be a great company either. Not because it's a bad company, but rather because Appen has not been able to grow at a level that justifies the money they spend in their marketing department (more on that later).

Appen's business model is pretty simple, they sell an eBook about SEO and they spend a lot of money on marketing to sell it. The problem is that the majority of their users buy the book on a whim and do not ever purchase another item from Appen.

I think the reason that they can't grow like crazy is that their products are just not good enough. There's no one thing that stands out as the main reason why they can't grow at a faster pace. In fact, I think it's a combination of things that they do and don't do that causes this slow growth.

There's a lot to talk about here, so let's dig in and see if we can't figure out what exactly they need to do to grow. Let's go over some of the problems that Appen has: The value proposition is not very strong. It does not explain why the customer should use their service or product.

They have a very basic design. In fact, most of their products and pages look like they were slapped together by a kid in PowerPoint. This is not a big deal to me because many websites look this way, but it does hurt their brand and overall reputation.

Their product is very basic. A simple eBook on SEO that doesn't provide much value. I don't want to give away everything here, but there are many other examples of services that they offer that simply aren't enough.

No pricing plan is provided. If you're a new customer, you are not guaranteed to know what you are getting into. The whole sales process is confusing.

No trial period is offered. This is a real problem for new customers.

No refunds are offered. No 30-day money back guarantee. They do not make it easy for new customers to try their product and see if they like it.

Is Appen a good side job?

I am thinking about getting my daughters first job and she is at school at the moment but would be a good side job.

She has been doing it for 3 months now, and it is 3.50 for one week. She is only 13 and I don't want to see her in a bad job because she has been doing it since she was 12, it's more important for me that she learns good work habits.

As a kid I did the job of a cleaner at school. My first job was on my own. The school had a few cleaners who did the odd cleaning job. At the end of each term there was a big cleaning of the classrooms. I was about 10, it took me 2 hours. I had to clean every desk top, the floor, the windows, the ceiling. It was a good way to learn cleaning. I started working in a bar on my own. I did everything from washing glasses to mopping the floors. I learnt how to take the orders and how to put together a drink. It was a good experience. I also got the chance to meet lots of new people.

I think she's already learnt good work habits, she's a great cleaner. She knows how to clean everything, she always says what needs doing, she doesn't leave stuff behind. If you are worried about her being in a bad job, she's definitely not going to be one.

Thats really good advice, I will say that she is only 13 and I am concerned that she may get sent to a bad job. It's just an issue of trust, how safe do you think she is in a place like that, and would she be left alone, would she be working by herself? I have a friend who is a waitress in a bar. She works for free because she loves it. She has also got the job of cleaning the toilets in the morning and in the evening when it gets too busy. She has learnt how to make drinks and serve drinks, and she's even learnt how to help out with the washing up.
