What is an example of a proxy address?
A proxy address is the address of a proxy server.
When you want to access some website through a proxy server, you specify the proxy address and the actual address of the destination server (the website).
When you want to access an IP address through a proxy, you need to know the address of the proxy server as well as the IP address of the target. For example, the website www.foo.com is hosted on a server in the USThe server's IP address is 1.2.3.4, and when you try to access it from the UK, you have to use a proxy that forwards requests to the IP address of 1. This is a proxy address.
How to set up proxy address in Active Directory?
I want to set up proxy address in Active Directory.
I'm having problem in the way of setting it up.
The best way to do this is to create a group (or "role") that has access to all the computers where you need to configure your proxy settings. Then, just add your proxy settings to the group and let it be done with it. You don't have to make any changes to AD directly. You can add the settings to the proxy settings group in AD with the following command line:
Net user
What is the proxy address attribute in Active Directory?
I'm working with a few different groups, each having an AD schema (or so I believe). Some of the groups have an Active Directory schema. For the schema that has a proxy address attribute, I was asked to update the proxy address field one user to include the full AD schema.
I've done this and I understand the importance of understanding what the attribute is for and how it works. My question is what is the proxy address attribute? What is it used for and why? The proxy address attribute stores the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the organization that serves as the LDAP interface for the organization. The server will only serve LDAP requests over the interface on which the user's Kerberos ticket was obtained, the FQDN of the LDAP interface is the primary key used in obtaining a Kerberos ticket, and thus the proxy address attribute is required for obtaining a Kerberos ticket for a given user. To obtain a Kerberos ticket, the Kerberos KDC must be configured to use the DNS SRV record for its Kerberos TGS service, and thus it will retrieve a KDC's Kerberos TGS response to a DNS query for the record by using the FQDN provided by the proxy address attribute. In the case where there is no proxy address, the server will use the server's own FQDN, resulting in no Kerberos ticket being available. See The Kerberos FAQ for more information.
