Hi I need to download a free firewall. I tried to use firestarter but it just got stuck and never started. I was reading through this site:

How do I get rid of it? I want to run the latest version of Ubuntu. I'm running the Live CD now but I don't see any way to download the full version of the OS. The only option is to upgrade to the newest version. How do I do that without using the Live CD?

I use Firestarter, it is simple to use. And it will be automatically started when you start Ubuntu. I am running it on my old PC, it's a P2 300Mhz with 64Mb RAM.

If you want to know more about Firestarter, look here: You can also download the .deb file for the version of Ubuntu you are running. Then double click on the . It will ask for your password to "install" the program.

I've been using firestarter for years, and it has been an excellent program. I had no problems with it, and it works fine with Ubuntu. I would recommend it over the built in firewall. If you have any problems, please let us know.

Thank you all for the kind words. I have been using firestarter on Debian for the past two years. This is the first time I have ran into problems. When I start the Live CD, the screen freezes and nothing happens. It has the same problem with my old PC as well.

As far as I am concerned, I am having a problem with my computer not connecting to the Internet. I need to get the Live CD to connect to the Internet.

I downloaded firestarter. I am running the Live CD on my old PC. I have an Atheros wireless adapter. I plugged in the adapter and it still doesn't work. I tried everything I could think of but it still won't connect to the Internet.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I am running out of options.

Is Comodo firewall worth it?

What is Comodo?

Comodo (www.comodo.com) is a leading provider of computer security products. It's a hybrid firewall, meaning that it has three different types of components: a web server, a dedicated appliance server, and software that runs on computers behind the firewall.

In addition to the appliance server, the application server and the client side software, there are also many optional components. Comodo claims that it is the world's most comprehensive, reliable and secure Internet firewall software and that its network is largely unknown. But how does Comodo actually work and what does it do? In this article, we will take a look at the software that makes up the Comodo firewall.

How it works. Comodo claims to have a user interface that is as simple as entering a URL. The software is based on HTML, and the interface is generated using a web browser.

The web server that provides the user interface is located on a server appliance that has a dual-core processor and 2GB of RAM. There is a similar appliance server in a data center in Costa Rica with the same specs.

When users enter an URL into the web browser, they get a dialog box that lists all the ports that the website has opened. The firewall opens these ports and passes traffic through the firewall only if the traffic matches one of the ports listed in the dialog box.

Comodo has several preferences that the user can change. These include blocking certain web browsers (including Google Chrome), blocking certain applications (such as Skype), and blocking certain programs or the whole program.

For instance, you can block websites by IP address or domain name. If you want to block a specific application, you can type in the name of the application or even a specific web page that contains it. You can block multiple programs at once. You can also blacklist domains.

A problem that Comodo has is that it doesn't show blocked traffic. If a port is blocked and traffic is not passed through the firewall, Comodo does not list it in the dialog box that shows what programs are opened.

Is Comodo Internet Security no longer free?

I'm getting tired of the new prices Comodo is asking for Internet Security.

I am already a paid subscriber with Internet Security 8 for the last 1/2 years now and all I have to do is enter the serial key. Does anyone know if there is a reason why they have upped the prices?99 for Internet Security 4 and 5.99 for 6.99 may have given them the reason to up prices.

As for other security products, that hasn't been the case yet, but they already raised the prices twice. It's only a matter of time before it will be.

If I were you, I would go to the link below, fill in your information, and if you wish to subscribe to their Plus (paid) service, click on the Buy Now button. If you were paying for Internet Security before, you should still be able to access your account and get your serial number (you can also send them an email to get it).

After that, follow the instructions for adding the serial key to get your software license for free. Hope that helps The problem is that when I first got Internet Security it would not work until it was updated. I had to manually update then after that it worked fine. Since the new update it will no longer work without the code you receive from them after they change your payment method. It is not easy to find a working serial number for this software. If you are like me and didn't keep a backup copy of the serial you will be in a mess unless you purchase Comodo Secure Backup 3 which is not really worth the money. They need to keep a record of everyone who has purchased this product so that serial number and payment can be accessed by them so they will be able to give you the proper update code.

I am sure they want us to pay for this new update, just not sure what the benefit is. What would the new update do that cannot already be done? The new update will allow us to use VPN's and web proxies. I believe this is something that were not able to do with Internet Security. Before, it would always request a connection to port 80 or port 443.

Does Comodo still have a free firewall?

After reading a lot of reviews here on TechRepublic, I decided that if I were to purchase the Comodo Firewall, I would also take a more in-depth look at its options. To do this, I tried out the free version of the Comodo Firewall (which I found through the link above) - and it seemed pretty good overall. After all, you get basic protection for free, for a year.

What I wanted to learn from Comodo was how to set up my firewall to better allow some specific applications into or out of my network. For example, I use the Comodo Firewall to permit some FTP connections, but I want to block everything else. I would also want to block incoming SMTP connections, but leave all other applications unrestricted.

I also want to learn how to allow some traffic to pass through my firewall that I do not want to pass. In other words, I want to block incoming traffic for certain IPs or range of IPs, while allowing some outgoing traffic which may or may not have an affect on the rest of the Internet (but I'd like the option to restrict it).

So this is what I found with Comodo's free software (it actually was surprisingly easy and useful): You need to download the latest installer file, and it works in both 32 and 64 bit mode. Then you need to install the software (with the default firewall settings, no options selected - just the defaults). The reason I used the default settings is because the default was fairly easy to navigate around. And by using them, I felt no different in my network/access permissions than when using any other "free" or "shared hosting" firewall program I used before. It didn't slow down my system or anything. So I have no problem at all recommending this as the free firewall for your website/domain name.

If you are familiar with Windows Firewall, then you will easily be able to move through the firewall settings. There are not too many choices for firewall settings (even in your options tab, there are only 3 options). You can either configure it to allow incoming connections and block incoming connections, allow both (incoming and outgoing), or choose to disable the firewall (or enable the firewall in order to block incoming connections as well as outgoing connections).
