Can I limit my screen time on my phone?
I was just wondering if you could set a time limit or something to stop my phone from going into the app store and buying more apps when I'm not ready for them. Is that even possible? I guess what I'm asking is can I limit what apps can be downloaded and used on my phone. Thanks.
For me, I have an unlimited data plan, but still watch my screen time and only install apps when I feel like it. I feel like this will help prevent people from downloading and installing apps they won't use. The only thing I do now is block the notifications for every app, so I don't know when I am at my limit. But I guess the apps could still download over Wi-Fi, so I think I'll set up a limit for that as well.
If you mean by "not downloading apps" that you won't have a list of apps to download when you go to the App Store, that's actually a part of your data plan. I'm an unlimited customer, and I have a cap on the amount of apps I can download. This cap varies with the app (in some cases it's more than one). I also have a data limit on my phone. I believe I'm limited to 5GB of data per month.
But I guess that's just because I'm not willing to pay for the extra apps. I'm sure there are apps that I'd use more than once, so I can see why I would want to buy more.
I understand it's not technically illegal to download them, but I feel like I should be able to set a time limit for myself. As an AT&T customer, I was able to install apps up to my plan's limit of 2GB.
How do I set screen time limits on Android?
I'm looking for a way to set limits on how much time my phone can spend connected to the internet, either through an app or a screen time limit option in Android. Does anyone know of a way to do this? The one-time limit (if you only want to set a single time limit) works for me, but not the repeatable limits. For example, I want to limit my phone to use the internet no more than two hours per day. But if I set a time limit of one hour and then I use my phone for another hour after that, it doesn't reset the time limit to two hours.
I tried the LimitTime app from CyanogenMod as well as the Screen Time app from Google Play Store. Both apps allow you to set a single time limit, but neither of them allows you to set repeatable time limits. I've heard that the Google Play Store will soon be getting an update with this feature, but I'm not sure when that will happen.
How to set screen time limits on Android. To set a time limit on your Android device, use either of the following methods: Method 1: LimitTime. The LimitTime app is a free app that will allow you to set a time limit for your device. It works by monitoring the amount of time that your device spends on the Internet and shutting off the data connection.
First, install the LimitTime app from the Google Play Store or use the APK from this post on the web. Next, open the LimitTime app and tap on the Set time limit button.
Set the time limit that you want to limit your phone to using the Internet. Set the Total time and Period settings. For the Total time setting, make sure that it is not set to 1 day or 1 week and that it is set to a specific amount of time, such as 2 hours or 3 days. For the Period setting, make sure that it is set to the amount of time that you want your phone to use the Internet during a day.
How do I limit screen time on Samsung phone?
I have a Galaxy Note 8 and I don't know if it is possible to limit screen time on my phone.
I already set a custom ringtone for incoming calls but when I have a notification it's always played a song from my music library and it's not really helpful because the call is still ringing. It would be great if I could just disable this feature and I was wondering if there is a way to do this. I have set all my own ringtones and notifications so the problem isn't with the incoming calls but I am always missing them and instead I have to listen to that song. I need a way to turn off notifications for incoming calls and to turn off the song when someone calls.
Unfortunately, you can't block calls using any method of your own. The only way to get around that would be to turn off the device while you're in the middle of a call.
The best way to handle this would be to simply not answer the phone if it's a notification.
How do I limit my child's screen time on Android?
I have an HTC Desire HD with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and it asks to enable child safety on its own when the child uses the device for the first time. I'm assuming this means any other apps that aren't for educational purposes, that kids can use can access the Internet, receive information etc. The only way I've found to limit the amount of time the child has access to these apps is by making them go into a mode where they can only use about 10-20% of the phone's resources. This means they can only browse websites with the built in browser or use apps that offer just a simple version of the app itself like weather, calendar, etc. My husband is concerned that there may be some apps that his son can access that would be considered illegal or dangerous. So, how can I remove the option to limit the amount of time your child uses the phone for activities not intended for them, like playing games, browsing the Internet, playing music, videos or watching videos? Or are these type of apps actually allowed on the Android Market and if so what level do they have to be at to still be able to access the market? The phone I'm talking about has an Internet browser, and a number of games, including Angry Birds and The Simpsons game which are obviously not suitable for children, but all the rest of the apps have ratings and the like which say that they are designed for children.
It sounds like a great idea to remove those features, especially the "child safety" feature. However, you are right in that the child may find a way to bypass your security restrictions.
But I think you shouldn't take that risk. When installing apps for a child that's not safe, the developer needs to make sure, that the app is appropriate for that age. The reason is, that children have a much better hand-eye-coordination than adults, that makes the gaming much easier for a child. If the games that you want to make available for your kid have an adult rating, then he should not be able to pass the games to the kid. That will be the safest bet.
