What apps can MMGuardian see?
MMGuardian sees which apps you are currently using, the ones that use location services to access your location, your device manufacturer or network type and the apps which have an external data store (Google for Android). Location services are used by many apps (eg weather apps) to display your location on a map. You can turn this off for most apps so they no longer use your location. But if you don't and the app can see your location then you will get a MMGuardian message about the information being shared with others and can't be erased.
Network provider. If you are using T-Mobile, EE or BT Mobile then you will have to add an additional SIM card in your mobile phone before setting it up with MMGuardian. This will then allow MMGuardian to be able to communicate with your mobile network.
MMGuardian doesn't see any difference between the networks, such as Vodafone or O2 and they all get reported as EE, the Network Name. This is because it is not possible for us to tell what your actual network is by just looking at the device. This is why we have to ask questions and perform additional steps to report a Network ID.
Some network providers, such as O2 offer additional tracking tools that will provide more data about the exact operator. Manufacturer or product ID. If you have bought a device from a particular store or have a particular brand then we can report that manufacturer ID (if you don't tell us). For example, Samsung phones have a unique factory or product ID (SKU) so we can tell that Samsung is a different brand to another phone manufacturer such as Huawei, and in turn this lets us know that you own a Samsung phone. It is always best to let us know this information so we can help you even further.
External data stores. External storage could contain a whole range of confidential information including banking passwords and credit card details. The devices and platforms that use these external data stores and files are detailed here. You can easily clear these types of information by running MMGuardian, which will delete the data.

Can kids disable MMGuardian?
I recently came across this blog post about MMGuardian, which was a pretty negative review of the service.
After reading through the comments on that post, I wondered if I could disable it? I have a small 2.5GHz P4-based netbook and it's not really ideal for running large amounts of applications simultaneously (although it can handle two browsers, three IM clients and a word processor at once). I'd like to be able to run multiple IM clients and browse the web in a browser without having to wait for one to finish loading before starting another.
I've heard that MMGuardian can be disabled but I don't know if it's possible to do it from the command line. I've been trying to find out how to do it with no luck so far.
I know that you can use a cronjob to run the program at a certain time, but I'd like to be able to do it manually if possible. I'm guessing that disabling the service will allow me to do this. I'll also assume that the process is called MMGuardian and that it's found in /etc/init.d/ (or some similar directory).
What do I need to do to start the process and stop it? P.S. I'm running Windows XP SP3 (32-bit).
Edit: According to the page at the URL provided by the blogger in the previous post, there are a couple of commands you can use to stop MMGuardian. Edit2: I've tried using Taskkill.exe but it just seems to get stuck in an infinite loop.
Re: Kids can disable MMGuardian? You will have to disable it in the system properties and then reboot the computer. Also you can kill the process using taskkill. If you search in your C: drive for MMGuardian.exe you will find it.
I was able to disable it. I have to admit, it was very easy.
I'm not sure why it wasn't working when I tried it last time, but it seems to work fine now. I did have to reboot after disabling it, but that's not a big problem for me.
