Do Firefox addons work on iOS?

I just got the iPhone 4, and I want to get a simple (and preferably free) app for it that will let me play YouTube videos and stuff. But all the apps for it seem to be for jailbroken iPhones, and I'd rather not have to go through all that trouble. So I was wondering if there's some way I can use Firefox addons to do something like this. Does anyone have any idea?

The official answer is: No, they do not work. There are a few unofficial answers that say they do work, but those have been out of date for a while.

I think you could write a plugin that uses the HTML5 video tag, but no way to make it work on iOS.

What is the difference between Firefox and focus iOS?

Why would you need a separate mobile browser when you have the full access of Safari?

The short answer to the first question is that it's mostly a branding thing. The long answer to the second question is: you get the same Safari with a Firefox logo. You get all the content, the same rendering engine and the same WebKit framework. If you use a keyboard instead of the touchscreen, the functionality is the same. So Firefox is focusing on "mobile" apps as opposed to a web-browser.

Do you think you can make a case for Safari without the browser? There are many who think Apple has a major hole in its market share. How do you plan to rectify that? We could also talk about my personal story, but I suspect most people here don't care. ;) Apple has been my company since I started college back in 1991 and it's really a great place to work. It has lots of perks and I love my people. The benefits and culture have just been getting better and better over the years. Plus, I enjoy the products and the vision of the company. Even though it's not perfect, I've never had any trouble finding an open door to ask questions or offer ideas. So I can definitely make the case for Apple.

Are we going to see a new Mac Pro before Christmas or not? We're still talking about Mac Pro, yes. What is a typical day like at work for you? That's a bit of a loaded question. I work at a company that's a bit of a start-up/accelerator so there's always tons of stuff going on, but you can also set your own pace and pick your projects. For example, I've worked on all sorts of projects. I did 3D design for the iPad, for example. I've spent some time improving Mac's Finder interface. I've even worked on an app that allows someone to draw in their own hand as they write. (I don't remember what the name of the app is, but I'm sure others have the same concept.) I've worked on small teams working on multiple projects, I've done solo projects. There's no cookie-cutter day at Apple.

What has been your proudest moment since you joined Apple? That's hard. When we released the first iPhone.

Does Firefox Focus iOS block ads?

I've had a few folks message me recently to ask if Firefox Focus blocks ads on iOS.

I looked at the app for a moment and couldn't see an obvious answer to the question. It did, however, lead me to wonder what browsers are doing on iOS? Are they simply blocking ads or are they blocking every site?

I decided to conduct an experiment: I installed the iOS version of Firefox Focus on my iPhone 7. How to block ads in Firefox on iOS. It's relatively easy to block ads in Firefox on iOS with the help of the Adblock Plus extension, which ships with the browser by default. The following steps allow you to easily add adblock rules from a web page using the Adblock Plus extension within Firefox. Open Adblock Plus from your home screen. Tap the Add New Rule button. Choose an Adblock Plus ruleset (Content Settings, for example). Choose Content Settings under Default rule name, and then follow the instructions as desired. Alternatively, choose Basic Settings to only block advertisements. How to block every site on Firefox on iOS. We all know that Safari has two browser modes - mobile only, which restricts the functionality of some websites, and mobile first, which also restricts functionality, but is useful when trying to view certain websites in a more narrow form factor. IOS does not provide such two-mode solution, unfortunately. The reason why there's not support for mobile first is a fairly simple one: most web pages contain elements such as ads, video players and other proprietary elements, which you can't really block using Safari Mobile Mode. That's why it's easier to use Safari Mobile Mode on iOS than on Android and Windows.

The good news is that Firefox provides an easy way to block any website from your phone. Let's take a look at how to do it.

Open the Firefox browser on your phone. Tap on the Menu icon (on the top right). Tap Settings. Go to Privacy & Security. Open the Content Blocking option.
