How do I track a family member on Google Maps?

So we had a huge argument recently over family maps - I'm a member of a large extended family and we've been using google maps to locate each other for the past 20 years, now that's a lot of maps. But now my niece is moving out and I'd like to find her on Google maps so I can track her down whenever I need her. She doesn't have an address. But she does have a mobile number and a landline phone number.

So I created a Google account for her, she logged in to that and then created a new account, and got all the details from Google including her phone number and her street address. So I created a route between the two.

I wanted to ask if there is a way to automatically update the Google Map with the new location of her family member so I can track her down. It seems I cannot use the 'Create a route' tool and I have not been able to use the 'Place a pin' tool to pin the map to her address. When I get a location the Google search bar just comes up with the pin options, and none of them have the option to pin a map to a location.

Can anyone tell me how to pin a map to her address? I know that I can manually create a route and place a pin at the location where she lives, but I'd like to be able to do this automatically from a new account without having to set up her account on Google maps. Thanks. I would highly recommend getting a premium account on Google Maps, so you can use more tools (eg: creating new pins) and it will save you money. Ben RAug 9 '12 at 22:45. If this was an open access site I'd recommend the "Add an address" tool. But this is a premium site, and I don't want to spend the money on the feature.

Can you track someone's location through Google?

"I have to say that I'm a little confused about what you're trying to do," the user said.

"You want to know the location of an IP address? I don't think Google can help you because you're not providing a sufficient context."

"This is a pretty simple problem," the user responded. "I have an IP address and I want to know where it is located. There are several IP databases on the internet and I tried to find a good one. What is your strategy to determine the location?"

"Can I track someone's location through Google? If so, can you show me how? The answer is no. You can't. The user was right. There are no reliable APIs available that let you pinpoint a location for an IP address using Google. Google doesn't have any IP-to-location data at all.

IP2Location () is one such service that does provide IP-to-location information based on the IP address of a domain. However, IP2Location's database of IP addresses and location information is very limited in scope. It is also only available in the U.S.

If you go to then you will be directed to a page that gives you a location based on the IP address of your ISP. This can be valuable if you are trying to figure out the location of a rogue server inside your network.

At the time of this writing, this service only provides location data for some ISPs in the U. What is Google's business model? As noted above, Google does not track IP addresses. However, Google has its own geolocation database called Google Location. In contrast to IP2Location, Google has a global geolocation database.

Google uses geolocation databases to show location results for searches.
