Why won't links open when I click on them?
I'm trying to link to a list of articles on this blog, but when I click on the link, nothing happens. I've tried different browsers, with different computers, and different operating systems, but the result is always the same.
The only thing that happens is that the page briefly flashes a white box with the word "Loading." and then disappears.
The list of links appears to be formatted properly, and if I copy and paste the URL into my browser's address bar, I can access the link as if it were an ordinary URL. The only thing I can think of is that the domain name is not formatted correctly. But it seems to be formatted properly when I use it in a normal browser window, so I'm not sure what the problem is.
Re: Why won't links open when I click on them? I'm guessing that you're not typing the full URL when you click on the link. You could start typing the URL in your browser's address bar, then hit the Enter key to see what happens. If there is no error message, you can then type in the full URL in your link. You'll know if the URL is formatted properly if the URL bar shows the full URL when you type it in.
What I recommend is to bookmark the page, so you can access it more easily. You can do this by right-clicking on the link and selecting "Bookmark this page."
Re: Why won't links open when I click on them?". Thanks.
Why can't i open links in-app?
This is not specific to the iPhone, it's about Safari on OS X.
When clicking a link that opens an app instead of a new tab/window, you can no longer click the link to open it in-app? When it worked in the past, there was a separate icon in the menu bar. I can't find this anymore on my Mac and I can't get into Safari settings either.
I'd appreciate any help you can offer! I use Firefox for OSX. It is now possible to open links in the Safari app from other apps, like the Photos app. The icon is now back in the top-right (and in Settings->Safari).
This feature requires Mountain Lion and uses the new Open with feature. You will be able to get it if you upgrade to Mountain Lion.
How do I get links to open in-app?
There is a new feature "Open in App" option which pops up when you click on the link.
The default value of this option is to open the link in your default web browser. However, I would like to make links open in my internal app view. I have done some research but haven't been able to figure out how to do this yet. Here is what I've tried:
I created a Chrome extension which injects an iFrame into each link, however this did not work. The iFrame content is visible and has the desired behavior, however it has a height of 0 (therefore hiding the rest of the page). Even though the content-width property is set to 100% the width is still only 50%.
Another approach was to inject a div which had 100% width/height of 100%. However, for some reason these aren't working.
Turns out the extension's problem was that I couldn't set the contentsecuritypolicy to media You just need to create a manifest.json file with that line inside of it. Then reference that file from your extension. Once you do that, Chrome accepts your file, doesn't complain about permissions, but still won't run the extension.
Once I added the content security policy I was then able to get the iFrames and Divs to show the whole page.
