Are PureVPN servers down?
We're in the process of fixing several servers that have gone down, but for those who really rely on using a VPN to protect themselves from snooping the government and their own employers, it is frustrating.
Fortunately, you don't have to worry about being left without a VPN server. Instead of depending one or a few, you can use our Virtual Private Servers (VPS) feature, which gives you a VPN server of your own for any number of devices and any desired connection options.
Here are a couple of reasons why we want to make sure our VPSs are working: We want to avoid a situation where you have a VPN connection that is constantly offline because we are unable to fix the VPS. We want to avoid a situation where you can't even login to our dashboard or reach us via the support phone line. We want to make sure you get all of the benefits that a VPN server offers including encryption and security, but without having to host one yourself. Our VPS servers are set up with a Linux operating system and provide some key features of a VPN server including OpenVPN with advanced encryption. However, since it is powered by a cloud-hosted private server, you are also assured of the highest levels of security, as well as the benefit of our 24/7 support from your VPN experts.
To find out more about how these VPS servers work, check out these guides: How Does the VPN Connection Work? A virtual private server (VPS) allows you to use your computer as if it were an independent server of its own, so you can share your bandwidth across multiple connections and your devices. Once the VPN connection is active, your IP address changes and your other traffic routes accordingly.
For example, before you use the VPN connection you connect to the internet using your home IP address and then once you're on the internet through a VPN connection the IP address would be associated with that VPN account and would change to the new address you are using with the VPN. On a VPS this happens immediately and seamlessly and at the end of the day all you need is the original IP address associated with the VPN. Even though there's only one computer on the server it has many connections depending on the amount of traffic.
Does PureVPN work on on an Amazon Fire Stick?
I do not see a problem with it.
The Firestick is a small device, so you can get away with using a fairly low-powered one (and this is what the Firestick is). The connection speed on the Firestick is also reasonable. You should have no issues connecting and getting to your account.
Now, you might have issues with the DNS leakages that PureVPN claims, but since you are not really looking for any of the fancy features or fancy apps, I see no problem using the free version and then purchasing the premium version when you need it.
Why does my VPN keep disconnecting on my Firestick?
I am using VPN for the first time on a Firestick.
I set up a PPTP VPN on my Windows machine and it connects without problems. I then followed the instructions here and created a new VPN on my Firestick. The Firestick connects without problems. However, when I open up the Netflix app it says that I am connected but then immediately disconnects. I can also open up my internet browser and access the internet, so it's not a firewall or network problem. I can open up the VLC app and watch videos without any issues. It only happens on my Firestick, and I have to turn off the Firestick in order for it to connect again. Is there anything that I need to do to make the VPN work with the Firestick?
I have the same problem and found that if I disconnect the FireTV from my WiFi and then reconnect, it works again. I think this is because the FireTV uses a "keep-alive" connection to the server and it needs to reconnect every time.
