How do I choose a server on PureVPN?
There are a couple of things to be aware of.
Firstly, all PureVPN servers are currently in beta test, although our team has already seen that they've proved their worth. Once you decide on a server in the final tab, you're pretty much ready to use the VPN. The second thing to be aware of is that PureVPN is a bit more expensive than other VPN services - as it's been developed with extra care and attention. So, if you are looking for a super-secure service which works super fast, PureVPN is the best choice right now.
1a: Select your location - Choose one or more of the countries and cities where you want to connect from. Step 2: Select your server. 2a: Select your security level - You will have 3 options for choosing your security level: Security (Default), Standard, and Express. There are plenty of servers to choose from at each level, so be sure to read about them for some real information.
Security (Default) is perfect for most people, especially with what's being released these days. It provides enough security, while allowing you to connect to the US servers.
Standard is a higher level of security, but may not be available on all the US servers. If it is available, however, we recommend this setting.
Express has the highest level of security, but it also comes at a price - meaning that you'll usually want to use the Standard setting when connecting to servers where Express is available. Step 3: Confirm your settings. 3a: Click on the button to save your selections. 3b: Click the icon to complete the setup process. Step 4: Download the application. 4a: Wait until it's fully downloaded before proceeding. 4b: Now it's time to add your payment details. Go to the Payment section and fill in your details. PureVPN will process your payment.
Step 5: Wait for your payment to be processed. 5a: To begin with, your PureVPN Account dashboard will show your country code to make sure you are connected to the proper country. However, most of your servers will start working once the payment is finalized. This may take a few seconds, depending on the processing speed of your internet provider and other factors.
Does PureVPN support P2P?
This is a great question and I'd love to hear the answer.
I have asked PureVPN for the following clarification. It may be interesting to see if they respond with anything.
We do not support P2P traffic, but we want to support our users, so we will probably not shut it down anytime soon. Update: A comment below confirms PureVPN does indeed support P2P now. It's also worth noting this was posted in August 2025 so things may have changed.
According to their own website, they do support p2p through their "Private Internet Access" client. To get rid of the message "privateinternetaccess has been disconnected", you need to download the "Private Internet Access" client and start it. The "Private Internet Access" client is a separate app for "Private Internet Access". When you download it, it will automatically register your email address and save a small amount of data.
When you open the Private Internet Access client, it will start and connect to privateinternetaccess.com automatically.
The Private Internet Access client allows P2P traffic on all servers. When the Private Internet Access client starts, a new menu will appear on the left side of the screen, showing different options.
From the menu, you can choose: "Internet Security Settings": Allows you to access the security settings (eg to change your DNS servers, firewall etc.) "Preferences": Allows you to manage your account or logout. When the VPN is active, you can still connect to websites normally, but the connection will be encrypted. You can check whether the VPN is active by looking at the network icon in the top right corner of your browser.
Does P2P work with VPN?
I have read some posts on here where VPN is recommended.
I have not tried it, but I was wondering if the P2P can still work with a VPN? My understanding is that P2P networks use the IP of the local machine and not the IP of the person sharing the files.
Re: ? Thanks! The problem with VPN is you have to be constantly watching what is going on. Your connection drops or you get a bad IP and you are out of luck. The best thing to do is to get a VPN account and connect it to your main IP address (obviously). The best thing to do is to get a VPN account and connect it to your main IP address (obviously).
You don't have to keep watching it, the connection should be re-establishing itself when it disconnects. With this method you should have an IP that is the same throughout the entire time you're connected to the network.
Then you are lucky. My guess is that is has something to do with UDP connections not having an IP at all.
Is PureVPN good for torrenting?
Is PureVPN good for VPN services?
Is PureVPN any good? Are there any other VPNs that work as well as PureVPN? Here are the answers to some of these questions.
Yes. You should torrent no matter what VPN you use and with PureVPN you will torrent with relative ease. Why? Because PureVPN protects your internet connection from all angles including prying eyes (cameras) in your ISP's WAN, which is used by your local ISP to connect with and maintain a steady connection with the internet.
Why does PureVPN work so well for torrenting? You can read more about that here. Basically the answer is that you are protected against spying eyes in your local ISP's network.
I should note that Torrents do have to be downloaded from somewhere. They are not downloaded to your computer - which would be like having a big folder of data that you store somewhere. Instead they have to be downloaded to a torrent tracker.
The tracker tells your internet browser where the file has to be downloaded from and it will then download the whole thing at once to the same location. So if you have a router or modem then it will automatically send your torrent file to the tracker. However, if you use a modem directly from a computer then you will need to tell the tracker where your computer is. This is called the "public IP address". That's because every computer gets its own public IP address and that's where the tracker connects to.
A few years ago it would have been really tricky to get the public IP address but it is fairly easy now. For example, I use a VPN service so my router will use the IP address provided by the VPN service. That's fine for my own personal use but for torrenting I will need to tell my router to use a public IP address.
So how do I do that? It is quite simple. Click on "Network" in Windows control panel and under "Settings" click on "Advanced Settings". There is a list of items called "Interfaces". Click on "Add". This will open up the list of items. Select Internet Protocol 4.
As an option, enter "public IP address", for example "192.168.100.1", into the "Interface Name" box and "Public (direct) IP" into the "Address" box.
