How do I import a certificate into VPN on Android?
In order to be able to connect via a VPN on Android, you will need to import a public key that's used to sign it.
If you are not familiar with certificates, this is best explained in the following steps. For step-by-step instructions on how to import certificates into the app, you can also check out my tutorial on how to import certificates in VPN on Android.
In order to import your certificate you'll need to get a *pfx file and import it. But where can I find the * For an overview on how to find them, please check out this guide.
So let's say I find one of these *pfx files - what do I do now? To make it easy for you, I've listed all the things you need to do: First, you need to use the software that's responsible for the signing of your certificates. Go to and download the StartSSL Mobile Connector. The software helps you find the *pfx file, so that you can use it in your VPN on Android installation.
Once you have found and installed the connector you need to login and choose your SSL Client ID, Subscriber Key, Company Name and Organization Unit - which you have to enter into the VPN on Android app. That's all it takes! Note that the app will only tell you if the certificate has already been imported or not, but it's good to know where you are in the process. It's important that you know the name of the certificate before you can proceed! If you try to sign into a service using a certificate that doesn't have a name, it will never work. Your email address is also important here.
Also keep in mind that StartSSL allows you to import more than one certificate per SSL Client ID, but the first one you import will be the one you can use as a subscriber key. The reason for that is because StartSSL uses a subscription model, whereby it will give the first certificate to a company and then to whoever buys it - so the subscription certificate is the subscriber key that can be used to connect to the server of the provider in question.
How do I download my OpenVPN config file?
OpenVPN is a well-known VPN solution.
In the previous tutorial we made sure that we had OpenVPN installed on our home computer, and now we are ready to set it up and begin using it. This tutorial will guide you through downloading and importing the configuration file of your OpenVPN server.
Step 1. Download OpenVPN and unzip it If you have not already installed OpenVPN on your computer, follow this link to install OpenVPN. Once you are done with installing it, you can find the location where the installation was done on your system by going to the program's directory. For example if you installed it on your computer's C drive, then the location where the installation was done will be your C drive. You can also open the Start menu and go to My Computer. There you will see a folder named Program files or Program Files. Open that folder and you should see the path where you installed the program.
Now that you know where the program is installed, it is time to unzip it. Open the location where you downloaded the OpenVPN installer. On Windows 7, you can simply click the Start button on your task bar and type open. You will then get an Open dialog box. Once you have opened the OpenVPN location in your computer, you can simply unzip the downloaded program.
Step 2. Open the downloaded file with the OpenVPN settings Once you have extracted the OpenVPN archive, it is time to import the OpenVPN settings into your router. If you have a static IP configured, then you should be able to simply open the unzipped file. If you have a dynamic IP configured, then you will need to make sure that the Dynamic DNS is enabled on your router. This way you will be able to access the files from any Internet connected device.
To import the OpenVPN settings, you will have to navigate to the directory where you unzipped the OpenVPN file. Once you have opened the OpenVPN directory, you can simply double click the OpenVPN folder. This will open a window showing the OpenVPN configuration. From here you can see all the necessary settings.
Step 3. Create the config file for your OpenVPN server Open the directory that you opened from Step 2.
How do I import files into OpenVPN connect?
I have been using OpenVPN connect to connect my Ubuntu box with a VPN server.
I have a few scripts that work fine if I open the GUI to connect.
But if I want to have these files run on startup as the user I would like to run as, how do I import the files into OpenVPN? I think you have some misunderstanding in what openvpn-connect is about. Openvpn-connect is just a wrapper for OpenVPN server. You do not need to use any script at all. Just use the openvpn command to start the OpenVPN server and it will get the connection from the OpenVPN server.
If you still want to use your scripts, try with this command : openvpn -client -script-security 3 -config /etc/openvpn/config.ovpn. It uses the openvpn client configuration file (config.ovpn) to connect to the server.
How do I manually add a profile to OpenVPN?
I want to use OpenVPN on a new server.
I have the client installed, and it's configured and working fine, but I can't figure out how to get my profile into the OpenVPN server.
I have been trying to add the profile into the client .ovpn file, but I can't find where in the client to do that. I have tried the config directory, but I can't find anything useful there.
How do I add the profile manually? As of version 2.3 of OpenVPN the profiles are created by default when you configure a server. If you need to create a profile yourself you should be able to see the configuration file openvpn.conf and use vi to add the profile you need.
