Does WireGuard support dedicated IP?
A little background.
I am not so happy with our current internet situation, specifically: 1) the lack of competition and how expensive our ISP is, 2) a big chunk of our bandwith has been handed over to third party companies (mainly advertising), 3) the lack of privacy / security in that the data has been passed on to all sorts of adtech companies etc For some time I have wished to set up a home server, but wanted to stick with something free-of-cost because the company that is supplying our internet (in the UK, at least) has been doing this recently for a small fee. They are providing a number of services to those customers, such as DNS routing etc which come at cost - so I wanted something not associated with them. I also dislike the amount of bandwidth they are handing out free of charge and I like the idea of having a dedicated IP that's all mine for my own purposes, ie no spying on me
I do wish to be more secure, eg I am not worried about the "theft" of internet access if you have the password for it, as I would not lose much money, excepting perhaps some ads. I was thinking of running a wireguard server in the house, although I have no idea how it works. Is it possible to have a dedicated IP without needing to pay for an ISP subscription, as in the UK? WireGuard will give you a dedicated IP but nothing from your ISP. If you can get a VPS or a Dedicated server from somewhere you could probably get a VPN from the company who owns the site / domain, that will give you that service, but is much slower than using WireGuard.
This, to my knowledge, will work like any other VPN - and any VPN will be a good choice - provided you can obtain the login credentials for it. You can also try and contact whomever controls your ISP - they can provide many other services which most often include dedicated IPs that you can purchase.
WireGuard is, for the most part, really simple. The only way you will get yourself lost on a dedicated IP is to configure it poorly - either by doing your first install wrong or having poor configuration. If you have enough room for WireGuard on an old system - just put it there. Don't bother with WireGuard if you are on a LAN.
Should I get a dedicated IP with VPN?
I'm a new user of this website and the first post I write I don't really get it well.
So what I need to do is to provide internet for my office (3 computers, printers, servers, etc.). The thing is that I have a router, but it's too cheap for what I need and I don't want to buy a more expensive one. I will use a PC as an internet gateway with a ADSL connection.
My question is, should I get a dedicated IP? Or should I get a virtual server that provides internet to my PCs? 1 Answer. 0 votes. As for me I would get a dedicated IP, as you are getting it for free with your ADSL, if you need dedicated IP for your office, then you will have to purchase a VPS. Also if you are working with more then just 3 pc, then you will be getting more dedicated IP than a VPS. So it all depends on your requirement.
The fact is that internet is used to share resources of our offices/networks and the internet is free! So, don't expect more than your basic speed. What you need is a device to get internet from internet! When you think about it that way it becomes clear why you should be getting a dedicated IP address. That is your device on the outside, which is able to connect to the Internet and you want that IP address to be static and not something dynamic, so that you can tell the devices connected to it that this is where the Internet comes from.
Even if you already own a router or a DSL modem, which is an adequate Internet device for your office, but there is a better device that can provide you with what you require. So your choice is very clear.
However, if you are already a bit overwhelmed by how to actually go about it, then this article will guide you. How To Get A Dedicated IP With VPS. In short, you will be creating a Virtual Private Server (VPS) from the server you already own, and you will be paying a monthly fee for it. When you create a VPS, it allows you to host more than one PC at the same time, without much hassle. All of them will have a different IP address, which makes it easy for you to identify which PC is which and access any of them from anywhere.
Does PureVPN have dedicated IP?
If so, how?
PureVPN does not actually host their own VPN server like most VPNs do today. Their servers run on cloud services based in the US. It's a bit of a trade off: PureVPN is able to run their network on more stable cloud infrastructure, but it's slower than you may be used to. In theory it's also a little less safe. For every VPN provider out there selling VPN service in some way or another they need to ensure those customers who visit their site are actually connected to a VPN and not on the internet with no protection. Unfortunately this is one of the areas where PureVPN aren't exactly the easiest company to work with when it comes to privacy protection.
What to expect from PureVPN. While PureVPN will let you know exactly what they do when they offer their full service tier; however their other packages will have different information. The package they usually sell their product as, the best for streaming, is fairly standard. Their service is completely free, but it allows you to stream just about any media format that will use streaming technology for your connection.
For instance you'd be able to stream movies from the BBC iPlayer as well as Netflix (for a single account). Their client software itself can play almost all of the popular media sharing services including Steam. Not that you'd want to be pirating content these days of course.
This particular package doesn't come with unlimited bandwidth, data or bandwidth throttling options. You are however able to share your internet across multiple PCs.
There is one extra add on though called, Smart DNS that could be very helpful for people who watch a lot of illegal streaming sites. There are plenty of other options in there as well like a private tracker list. If you think there's too much illegal content on the Internet then check out the Smart DNS add on as well.
If you want something that works more like a traditional VPN then just go ahead and buy the Ultimate package which costs 9.99 a month and gets you, no unlimited bandwidth, no bandwidth throttling options and no data limit. You can use it wherever you are in the world at the time (unlike the standard package).
