How do I match an IP address to a location?

Can you trace an IP address to an exact location?

Yes, we can.

Using technology called Reverse IP Lookup or RIL, we can use different companies and websites to pinpoint an IP address to a location. Using this tool, we can find out information such as the city, state, country, and even postal code.

RIL can be very helpful when tracking your online activity. If you were to visit our website for instance, you might have a dynamic IP address. There is a good chance that no one is sitting in that spot at that exact moment. However, there are many servers located in an IP pool, and it is likely that your IP address has the possibility to access our server since every request has to go through the routers and servers in the network. Even if the person isn't on that site yet, they will eventually be able to view it and log the fact. RIL will help us narrow down the locations from the different servers in our pool that we have.

Is it a reliable service? As with everything online, there is a good chance that some of these services have privacy policies in place. By doing this, those sites can know and record every thing that you do on their site. But on the other hand, they do have an algorithm that would make it even more difficult for them to track you down. If the algorithm has your name, date of birth, or your full name listed, they wouldn't be able to determine who you are any further than your name itself. While there is not a 100% guarantee, in the event that you choose to sign up for a free trial or test this feature out, then you are probably safe. With that being said, we do strongly suggest that you have the browser's IP address removed for every session to avoid that unwanted surprise.

In general, you could go in a few different directions. First of all, you could sign up for a proxy. Using these is relatively safe and is actually much more effective than signing up for anything else. You still have to remember that in the event that they manage to figure out who you are, it would be very easy for them to trace your activity online back to your physical address. What I would recommend though is that if you were going to sign up for a free trial, that you choose a company that only allows for anonymous browsing. Some services like Google would not even allow for this. I'm still surprised to see some sites are still working this way.

Can you get IP address from Google Maps?

Ok so I live in the country side of Australia.

My parents got me a home wifi router. In my family as long as it wasnt connected to anything else then they just left it at home for the night. But after some time my parents found this app "my parents found this app" they gave it to me. With "my parents found this app" you could send texts, make phone calls and play music. With that application all the information I wanted was being shared between those 3 devices and google maps. But recently I saw another application called Google map's IP address. It also can send texts and call. What makes this app stand out over the other one?

All applications need to be installed using google play and be authorized with the appropriate android ID. All applications must also obtain a unique id for each device it is installed on by verifying that this is a valid android system on the device.

I believe in what you were saying. The point is if someone was to buy or download from somewhere for whatever reason if your name or ID was associated to the device your parents have for instance and the owner of that app they know to add you as a primary account with them (if you allow it) that person could also install and use that same program.

So the way I see it if someone uses an application you haven't authorize for your device then it may be possible they have installed that app without your authorisation. You must be able to get the ip address of a device if its authorized so I believe it should be fine but not much to go on since all manufacturers create apps or do development work.

I know there are many methods that could be used to obtain your ip address and I was just wondering if it was even possible and if so how. There is no such method that I know of, especially if you want your friend's IP address on mobile device without his consent or without his knowledge. Even if there was, it's not likely that you could get somebody's IP address (unless they give you root access of course). There are only methods where you give the application rights to send SMSes to specific numbers, but in that case I think you already should know if you did that.

Maybe you could find the user (in his/her profile on play store?) that installs/updates those apps and report this to some sort of supervisory team?
