Can you set time limits on apps?

How do I lock apps for a few hours on Android?

The question says it all.

I just want to lock down a couple of applications (not all) for an hour or two every couple of days.

I know we could just unplug the phone but I'd much prefer an alternative. Android is fine but iOS doesn't help me so much either. You can just go into application settings on the device and set the amount of time to how you like and then lock the device when your done. I know this isn't exactly what you asked for but at the very least you can now control which applications are allowed to run on your device (or better yet be allowed to run on your device). Edit: You can create a shortcut to another application with a custom command such as lock:30 minutes and go into its settings and change how long the app is allowed to be active for.

How do I limit app usage time on Samsung?

This is my first app.

Is there a way to limit the time that the app is active on the device and or in the background? Thanks.

There are two ways to do it. By using a broadcast receiver you can check if your app is running in the background. If it is, you can stop the service or start playing an audio clip which is not very loud (it's better to set the volume of the playback to zero). By setting the priority of your app. The way to set your app as priority is by adding this tag in the AndroidManifest.xml file . . .
