Can you access blocked sites through VPN?
In this post we will see how you can use a VPN to access blocked websites.
What is VPN? A virtual private network (VPN) is a method of sending and receiving data over the Internet through an encrypted connection. This makes your browsing safer and more secure. When you are connected to a VPN, your internet traffic is disguised as if it is coming from somewhere else.
Using a VPN is not illegal in any country, but it's not recommended for your privacy or safety. In this tutorial, we will use ExpressVPN. I don't want to pay money, can I use free VPN services? Yes, you can. Many free VPN services exist, but you should keep in mind that they do not have any security and offer no real privacy protection. They are not suitable for everyday use. ExpressVPN is a good choice as it has a no-logs policy.
Before you start: Make sure you have a VPN subscription. Step 1: Connect to ExpressVPN. There are two ways to connect to ExpressVPN: Select ExpressVPN in the Windows Start menu. In the ExpressVPN page, click on Add to Windows. Select the version of Windows you're using. Choose ExpressVPN under the Connections tab. Once you're connected, you will be asked to fill out some information about yourself. Fill in your email address and your ExpressVPN account number.
You will be asked to provide your login credentials. You should remember this information because you will need it to log in later.
Step 2: Check the DNS servers. The ExpressVPN client will automatically update the DNS servers that you use to connect to the internet. The DNS servers are an essential part of browsing the internet because they determine the websites that you visit.
In the ExpressVPN page, you will find a list of DNS servers. Select the DNS server that you use to access the internet. The next screen will show you the IP address of the server. You should also check the subnet mask and gateway address.
Step 3: Connect to the internet. After you have set up the DNS server, you will be asked to connect to the internet. Select the server that you used in Step 2.
How do I bypass blocked sites?
I get that.
I have this site
I want to bypass all HTTP requests and just allow direct calls to my custom DNS entry which points to my own web server in my LAN. And the same site on my home router. What's the syntax? Thanks.
If you have a nameserver that is not the one your browser is pointed at (as an ISP would do), you can use DNS.pwers.org example.com
;; ADDITIONAL SECTION: ns3. 0 IN A 10. Grep -A1 'PTR com 172800 IN PTR ns3.
So, add a nameserver record like ns3.org with an IP of 10.17 and your firewall would need to accept traffic from 10.17:53.
I'm pretty sure most Linux distros install a DNS cache by default (eg, dnsmasq), and I'd wager that it might already be there for you.
