How do I block a website on my mobile hotspot?

How do I restrict websites on Android?

I was thinking that if I am running 4.0 or above and if the browser is set to accept third party cookies on a mobile device then how do I control this by setting it up, so that Android stops allowing apps to use any of the browser tabs as a way to control what websites can visit, not even the ones I have in my app. And if I allow it, what exactly does Android do then, where does it go and what it is doing? How does this all work under the hood?
Basically, I'm asking how android, without allowing me to use 3rd party cookie restrictions or whatever, still gives me more than just Chrome's way of making certain sites and programs and extensions only be allowed at certain times and for certain lengths of time. For example, let's say I have a tab of facebook open in the browser but when I browse to another website with a tab or browser window, I'd like Android to stop making that tab of facebook available or usable to anyone who isn't already logged into Facebook on that tab or browser window, while they're on that browser.

So, if I choose for some reason to not do any of this by setting my Android to block third party cookies for all websites or whatever, how does Android manage the situation anyway, what are the options for me? Basically, there are three main things I want to know - 1) How do you make sure users are not allowed to do "x" from their web browser through android? 2) Is it possible to block some URLs and not others? And 3) Does anybody out there know whether or not it is actually possible for me to do #2? You are using the wrong API. You should be using the WebView class. It allows to specify rules about which domains are being allowed to visit.

Also, depending on the Android version used (I don't know the API details of version 4), there is another class from android.graphics which has the capability to modify the security settings via the AccessibilityManager. There is no such method from the standard WebView API; therefore you cannot use its method to do that.

How do I restrict devices on my mobile hotspot?

I have 2 mobile hotspots (A and B), I also have a mobile phone, I want to set up a home network with my mobile phone. So I have connected all devices to my mobile phone's hotspot using WiFi hotspots. Now I need to restrict devices on the mobile hotspot that is in B. My devices are as follows:

Smartphone-Samsung galaxy s2. Tablet-Nokia Lumia 920. Laptop-Asus X41Z-U. I need to control what devices can connect to the hotspot in B. But from my research I see that the following methods are used by others: Use a router to manage the network. If you use a router for your internet connection, you will have more control over who has access to it. Unfortunately, this option isn't available if you only want to connect one or two devices. This may not be a problem if you have a single computer and multiple phones, but if you want to connect multiple tablets and smartphones, you will need to be able to restrict access to your router.

Use firewall rules. With a firewall like Norton Internet Security, you can configure its firewall rules to deny access to certain IP addresses. It can be a tedious and time consuming process.

You should check the device manuals of your wireless devices to determine if there are any settings for restricting network connections, for example, Nokia X2 does not have such settings. Use a different DNS server. You can use the DNS server on your router to restrict who can use your network. If you are using a domain name service like OpenDNS, you can control the settings so that your mobile device's DNS requests will go to your router. This will not let you block any web pages or social networking sites, but it could prevent your phone or tablet from accessing your Wi-Fi hotspot.

You should try to prevent the devices you are planning to block from using your mobile hotspot. That way you can disable their connection.

In order to block a particular IP address, you will need to have it in your IP Blacklist. If it is not already in the list, it will take some time to propagate to all the various IP Blacklists out there.

Is there an app to block hotspot users?

Is there a program to block users from using the hotspot on my computer, or otherwise deny them access to my wireless network? I'm looking for a way to deny my daughter access to my wireless network. She's a teenager, and it's really difficult to reason with her. She spends half her time on social media and half of the time on the computer playing games. She can be a pest when she wants to be, so I want a program that will let me set a time limit, and that will automatically block her from accessing the internet for a set amount of time. The program should not allow her to use the computer when she is home, but it should allow her to use the computer when she is away at school. I've looked at netnanny, but I'm not sure how effective it is. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You could make a script that runs the hotspot program and shuts it down. It would allow her to surf the web without interruptions. You could also make a script that only lets certain people log on, or if they get caught and you have a script that shuts them down. This is going to be an ongoing battle, but if you think about it logically, there are reasons to keep her off the net, and you can't always avoid it.

I would be wary of the netnanny app. It looks like it could be used for much more than what you're suggesting, but it's hard to say for sure without knowing how it works.

For all that, I don't think it will be much different from a parental controls app. I'd just set the time period and the maximum duration, and let the kids be responsible for themselves after that. If they need to do some online shopping, they can go to the store. If they need to talk to a friend, they can text. If they need to just "be" online, then that's when they need to be online. There are a lot of things that can be accomplished without being online.

That said, I'm sure there are lots of ways to do this. I'll post some ideas I've come up with in case you'd like to try something else.

I don't know of any app that will specifically block a child from a wifi hotspot. It will probably just stop them from accessing the internet, but there is an app for that.

How do I block a website on my mobile hotspot?

I need to block a website for my mobile hotspot. Is it possible to do that? Or is it only possible with a smartphone or iPad? On Android smartphones and tablets, we're working to make website blocking available through the mobile browser but are currently limited to blocking specific websites (as opposed to blocking the whole domain). This will be announced more soon in our new mobile web platform, Android WebView.

While we don't currently support blocking websites on a mobile hotspot, it's possible to do this with any Wi-Fi capable device. The only restriction is that you can only block a site with the same kind of device, meaning you could have a tablet with Android 5.0 and a phone with Android 2.3.5, but you can't block the sites on both devices at once.

A user reported that they found this workaround to work: If someone were to access their Wi-Fi network using their phone with 2.5 they would get the message that a password is required to use the network. As it turns out the WiFi network does not need a password in order to broadcast a name (which is why it won't require authentication) and a browser has no means of verifying whether or not that name matches the name associated with the IP address used to send and receive the IP packets. If someone were to use their phone with 5.0 they would not be able to make any connections because of the security settings put into place. Once the settings have been removed access becomes fully possible.

I've tried to enable both the iPhone, which works, and also the iPad on my Mac, which does not, as well as Windows, which doesn't know how to do this and says there's no security software installed. How can I check my security settings and enable this if necessary? The "Settings" button is right up top where the menu bar is located. Tap that, scroll down and tap "Security" in the first section that pops up. You should be able to disable and enable anything you need to. It's fairly straightforward. You can toggle your mobile hotspot as you normally would and if you want it to connect automatically when you turn on your phone, just tap "Always".
