Do you have to pay to use 1Password?
Yes.
You will need to purchase 1Password through the Mac App Store or you can use the free app on your iPhone and iPad for the web versions of 1Password.
Can I use 1Password on more than one computer? If you would like to use the same 1Password vault on different computers, you will need to generate a new account. Can I use 1Password with more than one user name and email address? Simply generate a new vault for each user. How do I import a 1Password vault on my other device? First, make sure that you are using the version of 1Password designed for your iOS device. Then, visit the settings section of your Apple Watch and click Add Watch to add it to your main device. Then, go to Settings and click Accounts and then click Add Apple Watch. You'll now have the option to move your 1Password account to your Apple Watch.
You can also choose to sync your watch's clipboard with your main device's clipboard, allowing you to copy items from your watch's clipboard to your phone's clipboard (for example, copying the text from a note you received on your watch). I have iCloud Sync set up in Settings on my iPhone, but 1Password still syncs only to my Mac. Why? If you are using the iCloud option in your iCloud settings on your Mac, make sure you have 1Password set as your default browser, or vice versa. If you are using the iCloud setting on your phone, make sure you have 1Password set as your default browser.
Why do you want to change the way my password works? The current method of entering a password on a web browser is a little outdated. While it's a lot better than the previous methods, you can still use our new autofill feature for an extra layer of security. You can also change the way your password is entered by visiting Settings on your Mac. How do I find them all?
When you are creating or adding a new password, you can type in a phrase, or choose a memorable quote, or choose a song or poem from your library to act as your password.
Is 1Password any better than LastPass?
LastPass has always been my security staple.
After a couple years of trial and error, I found that it just works really well for me and allows me to remember things without getting overwhelmed. I also like that it's cross-platform and there are no restrictions or caveats in what I can use it on. But after reading other people's reviews of LastPass, I have come to the realization that 1Password may better for what I need. If I were to re-do my password vault today, I would probably still stick with LastPass, but one major aspect keeps me from doing so is 1Password's mobile capabilities.
This is the first of a multi-part series reviewing the pros and cons of the two password managers I use. The criteria will include: How secure are the passwords? Do you have more trouble remembering them or typing them out? Does it matter? The ability to quickly and easily type them into websites. Do they integrate well with your OS? Can you do it quickly and easily? Does it keep your data backed up automatically? Do you get an option to back up via email, to file servers, etc. Do you always have to sync to save? If so, how often? Does it support multi-platform? How well does it work on Mac and Windows? Linux? And mobile? Do you have the option to backup in the cloud (like with LastPass)? Are you limited to backing up to file servers? If so, are there any advantages/disadvantages to that? How long does it take to back up your entire vault? Do you have a feature that allows you to import your vault directly from other places? When I used LastPass, the main reason I could not bring my vault over was because I did not see a way to sync directly to the new computer (I could only copy the exported html from a browser window onto a USB stick). Is this true for 1Password as well? In reviewing these issues, I will first review the pros and cons of using LastPass, then compare it to 1Password. I will then provide some personal thoughts on my experience using both. Finally, in the last post, I will compare the various features between the two.
LastPass: The Pros. Security. First and foremost, LastPass focuses on security.
