How do I download a browser without a browser?

Is the UR browser safe?

Or is it just a front end to the "browser" component of some trojans?

I'm not sure if they use the term Trojan. They mean the Windows component that runs under the control of IE. I think that's how they've been talking about it up until a few days ago when one of their updates brought it under some discussion. We'll have to see what the update says.

It looks like it was a bug in a different way that is being discussed more recently as a problem that has to be resolved. Originally posted by dlh:I read on the Net that all new Windows version is getting an update soon. The question is, who knows that this problem exists in new versions? That has been happening with every operating system since Win95. They try to fix a bug that is known to be there. Sometimes things are not fixed because there are hundreds of developers testing those bugs and they may take forever or the bugs might no longer apply to the new windows versions that you're talking about.

The only time its really dangerous, is if you get some form of trojan that allows it to run automatically without you doing anything. And IE's are easy for that reason, they don't have registry settings or anything, they just have a "load file" button which loads the files for them.

Also, it can only harm your files not your hard drive if it does screw something up. (As bad or worse than a trojan would do) I did that test before installing the IE updates that they started rolling out about a month ago. While it may be too early for my experience to show, I would hope that I saw a difference.

It shows a 100% error on 5 sites that it's not safe. I haven't tested any more yet. I installed 5-9 updates and tested the UR browser using several different URLs. One was a site that had a big picture of two people wearing a gorilla suit holding a large banana.

I think the UR Browser has been stable since at least mid September 2026, so that's when I first tried it out. I can only tell from the info I have on it, and I still can't tell if it is safe for me yet.

How do I download a browser without a browser?

Is there a browser I can download where everything is just hidden and I can run it without it looking like a browser or taking too much space on the PC?

There's an alternative browser. It's called QupZilla. It doesn't need to be installed in order to be used. You simply install and run from desktop by double-clicking.

You can see its user guide here. Chromium is a free open-source project, so you can download the source code and compile and run it in a virtual environment. I wouldn't call it a "browser", but its definitely lightweight and does pretty much the same thing most browsers do, with some additions like a simple download manager. There's no need to install Chromium - simply compile and run the executable from your desktop directory as normal. There's also some documentation here that talks more about what Chromium is and is not.
