Does Google still allow less secure apps?

How do I give Gmail access to less secure apps?

I use an Android smartphone, so the Gmail app does not require a Gmail login.

I want to add other less secure apps like 1Password to get access to my Gmail account without having to give them access to my Google account.

I have tried to add 1Password as a secondary app, and it won't let me. It says I can't add more than one secondary app. It says my phone isn't supported. What do I do?

What do I need to know about Google Play policies if I'm going to enable this? I don't want to break anything. For those who have done it, what's involved? How much of my Gmail will it show up in the app? How many notifications will it show? Yes, that's what I'm asking. What does Google Play's policy say? Answer: You don't need to be a Google Play developer to add a less secure app to your Google Account. If you're adding an app that has an account sign-in, such as 1Password or LastPass, you need to have a Google Account. If you don't already have one, you can create a Google Account and add a phone number. Then you can link your new Google Account to the app you're using.

How to add a Google Account to an app. Go to Google Play and click Add Account > Other accounts > Add account.2. Enter a name for the account and select Next.3. Select the type of account, and then select Create account.4. Enter the email address and password for the account.5. Enter your phone number. You'll be asked to verify it.6. Enter a phone number, and then click Continue.7. You're asked to choose a security check app that Google Play can call whenever you make a purchase or sign into the account. You can choose any app you want.

Now you should see an app with the account sign-in button. If you click it, you'll be asked to log in.

If you use a less secure app with a Google Account, you can use the Sign-in options button to quickly link your Google Account to the app. That's pretty much it. More information. Google has a page on how to add a less secure app to a Google Account.

It does raise the question of whether developers should stop developing for older Android devices that don't support a recent version of Android. Google has already removed some support for devices running on older versions of Android, and it is inevitable that they will eventually remove support for all older devices.
